The Chinese Embassy together with some members of the Chinese Community in Ghana have donated medical supplies and food items to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (GARH) to aid in the fight against COVID-19.
The items presented include 15 ventilators, 20,000 medical masks, 120 protective suits, 60 face shields and 100 medical googles. Whilst the food items are made up of Tombrown, milk and drinks.
The Chinese Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Shi Ting Wang at the presentation ceremony stated that, the COVID-19 which is global pandemic has extensively afflicted humanity with pains in this century and continuous to pose a grave threat to human life and health”.
According to him, the Chinese government will continue to support the fight against the virus and promised to stand firm with Ghana in tackling the virus that has claimed more lives globally.
The Deputy Minister for Health, Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye who received the items on behalf of Ghana applauded the team for their significant benevolence. He mentioned that the items could not have come at a better time like this and promised to put it to good use for the safety and protection of the hard working staff.
He used the opportunity to once again drum home the importance of observing all the precautionary measures put in place by the Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Service and appealed to the general public to take them serious.
The Medical Director, Dr. Emmanuel Srofenyoh on behalf of the Management of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, expressed his appreciation to the Team and indicated that, the items will be used for it intended purpose.
